Promoting conservational awareness within local rural communities

About MAMIE

The MAMIE Foundation is dedicated to advancing its mission of promoting awareness, increasing resources, and enhancing agency within local rural communities. Through comprehensive campaigns, targeted skills training, and rigorous research on sustainable development, the foundation seeks to empower individuals and groups alike.

One notable collaboration is with Abayomi Farm Estate, nestled in the heart of the Emerald Forest Reserve (EFR) in Ikoyi-Osun, Osun State. For the past quarter-century, this community-based forest conservation project has diligently partnered with local residents to safeguard indigenous biodiversity and vital ecosystems. Together, they've worked tirelessly to preserve the rich tapestry of trees and animal species that call this region home.

The core objective of this partnership is to pioneer innovative strategies to combat environmental degradation while championing cultural and sustainable rural agricultural practices. By fostering a deep connection between people and their environment, the collaboration aims to nurture a harmonious coexistence that benefits both nature and society.

Central to the foundation's approach is the utilization of participatory methodologies, ensuring that all stakeholders have a voice in decision-making processes. By fostering inclusive dialogue and collaboration, these projects strive to lay the groundwork for enduring rural development and resilient livelihoods.

Through these concerted efforts, the MAMIE Foundation and its partners are not only safeguarding the natural heritage of rural communities but also fostering a renewed sense of stewardship and empowerment among those who call these areas home. Together, they are forging a path towards a more sustainable and prosperous future for all.
